‘Asal faisla Bhagwan kare ga’

Hindu Raj in Kashmir can be remembered for so many good reasons. The life and property of the common man was not as insecure as it is nowadays .The courts ,by and large, were free to despense justiceto common people,  even to those who did not have any approach. The current trial of General Musharaf reminded me of a case of Maharaja’s era which bears striking resemblance with it and a lesson worth remembering to all.

During the  Raj,an influential man abducted a girl of a impoverished family and and murdered her after satiating his lust. The victim’s family, knocked the door of court, despite the threats from the murderer’s  family. The  case started being unfolded before the court, which tried to ascertain the truth behind the foul murder.

As mentioned earlier, the murderer hailed from  a  family, which was strong, both politically and financially.Somehow, they used all sources to  influence the court.Consequently, the court,in its final verdict absolved the accused, on grounds of non availability of substantial evidence. But,at the end of that verdict, the Hindu Magistrate wrote a majestic sentence reading’ laekan asl falsa Bhagwan kare ga’(God would do the real justice).

Having been exonerated by the court, the murderer  grew even more arrogant and started boasting of his power and influence. He would make a mockery of the victim’s family by saying that they had obtained ‘justice’. Naturally, the victim’s family got even more grieved. The murderer of their daughter was let scot free, and he was there to make their life even more miserable. The weak has no choice but to wail or to walk away, looking at the heaven.

Strange are the ways of heaven, and the prayers of trodden and helpless do bear the fruit, sooner or later. One day,the murderer  wore his finest clothes,  tied a cotton turban around his head and set out on his horse to the victim’s family again, boas ting.Terrified, as they were already, the hapless family resorted to devotional  prayers to God to save them from the cruelty of that man again. He was there to unleash yet another cruelty on them, they thought.

After reaching their house, the man unhorsed himself. Then he thundered at the helpless housemates ,twisting his erected moustaches.’I am here to tell you that I had murdered your daughter, and you rats tried to challenge me in the court. No one can do me any harm,he bragged further .But the heaven had some other designs  in the store. The next  moment ,his horse hammered  his forehead with a fierce hind leg, and up flew the mind of the murderer  on the ground. The sentence written by the Hindu Judge had proved  its spirit. The divine justice had been enacted and the murderer  had been kicked to his due end.

The incident might sound strange to many, and countless may raise fingers on the issue of calling God, the Bhajwan, but it conveys a very strong message that sooner or later the heavenly justice unfolds itself and the wrong doers,no matter how high or mighty they are ,get their due punishment.Looking at the high treason case of General Musharaf,my mind recalled that incident. All know that Musharaf was a power drunk man  whose tone grew more haughty during his last years of  reign.Once he went on to claim  that his uniform was his skin. But the same Musharaff took refuge in a military hospital like Hosni Mubarak(it is no surprise that most of the dicatators land in military hospitals). What a disgraceful dismount it has been.

The AFIC medical board  termed the condition of the ex president’ serious’.There is  a thin  possibility of his fair  trial and persecution in our courts. His defence council is also there with all-out gimmicks to save him. There are possibilities(the recent visit of Saudi sheikhs might expedite the process),very strong indeed, of  release of the man wanted in a high treason case on score of grounds. But,let it be sure that Divinity would not spare him for all ills he has done to this ill- fated country. The blood of thousands of Muslims is at his hands. The cries and curses of innocent daughters of Lal Masjid would keep on haunting him, and he would certainly meet the inevitable befitting justice.

Our memory is very frail.Other Pharoh  dictators like Ghaddafi,Saddam, met their horrifying and humiliating ends. The fate of Musharaf would be even more tragic, as a lesson to those who believe that in the presence of political and military might,no one can challenge them, for their foul deeds. But,let wait and see when does’ the asl faisla Bhagwan kare ga’ come to play.
